“ Kept to Themselves “...

 “ Kept to Themselves “

by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

Kept to themselves
at odds with free locking
heard at high volume

stark paths to stardom
blaring alarms waterlogged
as seen from afar in the dark

kick-started by bump stocks
forlorn but not forgotten
kitchens gardens farmer’s markets

hidden processes
like microbiology
kept at large
via snapshots skin on
the hand that rocks

olives garlic
winning starters
salmon caviar
green beet tops
coping with trauma...

“ Oil and Plaster “...

” Oil and Plaster “

by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-
Mom Suzán

Oil and plaster on canvas
an illusion in contrast
to colored veils

increasingly charismatic
strategically abstract
simultaneously
present and absent
in large formats

all along
pointing towards
lengthening walls

becoming increasingly important
some of the time
and a little all of the time

deeply felt
both privately
and publicallly
being ironically
described
by malfunctioning
watering eyes
while tearing up
much of the time...

“ No Such Thing “...

” No Such Thing “

by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

No such thing
as re-thinking
automatic weaponry

mowing down 30,000
shadowing
shooting fish in a barrel

emptying
magazines
with zeal

as a quintessential
A-Team
for trigger squeezing

peeling off round after round
into a screeching concert crowd
dropping to the ground

Shouting, “GET DOWN! GET DOWN!”
yielding high casualty counts
gunman taken down

windows
shot out
sirens sounding...
